David C. Smith, M.D.Board Certified General Orthopaedics
Dr. Smith is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon whose practice focuses on general orthopaedics, as well as joint arthritis. He is a general partner of Orthopaedic Specialty Institute of Orange County.
Dr. Smith has been on the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the City of Orange for several years, many of which he also served as an associate clinical professor at the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Smith did his undergraduate work at California State College, Los Angeles. He completed medical school at University of California, Irvine graduating as a member of the National Medical Honor Society. His orthopaedic and general surgery internship was performed at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA.
Orthopaedic Residency training was completed at Orange County Medical Center – University of California, Irvine. Following completion of orthopaedic specialization, Dr. Smith served in the United States Army, spending one year in Vietnam.
Over the years, Dr. Smith has lectured to various groups on a variety of subjects focusing primarily on Sports Medicine and Joint Replacement topics.
Dr. Smith is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the California Orthopaedic Association, and a past president of the Orange County Chapter of the Western Orthopaedic Association. He is also a member of the National American Trauma Association.
