Joshua D. Schwind, M.D.
Orthopaedic Spine Surgery
Dr. Schwind is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in disorders of the spine. He is fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery.
A native of northwest Ohio, he graduated summa cum laude from Bowling Green State University, in Ohio, with a major in biology. He followed this by earning his medical degree from The University of Toledo. Dr. Schwind graduated with honors as Orthopaedic Student of the Year. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at The University of Toledo. Subsequently, he completed an orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
Dr. Schwind has a strong academic background. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, and he was also a co-author for an instructional video in the Orthopaedic Knowledge Online Journal, published by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition, he has presented research at both regional and national scientific meetings.
Dr. Schwind is dedicated to providing highest standards in orthopaedic spine care for all his patients. Not all conditions require surgery and Dr. Schwind recommends surgery only after appropriate non-operative care has been exhausted. He strives to educate patients and their families about their respective conditions, and wants to empower patients to be responsible “owners” of their spines. He is continually involved in cutting-edge research to improve outcomes for his patients.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Schwind has a young, growing family. He enjoys spending time with his wife Amanda, daughter Ava, and his dog, the Colonel. He enjoys sports, and even played football at the collegiate level. His hobbies include weight training, drawing, and acrylic painting.
