Miguel P. Prietto, M.D. - RetiredBoard Certified Sports Medicine Surgeon

Dr. Miguel Prietto is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He is a general partner of the Orthopaedic Specialty Institute in Orange County where his practice is focused on sports medicine, arthroscopic and reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery, and knee replacements.

Dr. Prietto has a clinical practice and devotes much of his time to treatment of athletes. He is team physician for the athletic programs at California State University, Fullerton, Chapman University and Santa Ana College.

Dr. Prietto received a Bachelor of Science degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He earned his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine, receiving the student Humanitarian Award. Dr. Prietto did his surgical internship at Los Angeles County – USC Medical Center. He subsequently completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of California, Irvine. He then traveled to Columbus, Georgia to complete a fellowship in sports medicine, knee and shoulder surgery at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic under direction of James R. Andrews, M.D.

Dr. Prietto is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the California Orthopaedic Association and Western Orthopaedic Association.
